9 Of The Best Airbnb Treehouses In The US

There’s something magical about treehouses.

Airbnb treehouses – What is it about treehouses that makes the heart flutter?

Maybe they bring back some of our best childhood memories of creating dens, playing on rope swings, climbing trees, and being in a safe space high above the ground.
Maybe it comes from being close to nature up in the leaved canopy created by the trees themselves.

Whatever it is, there’s nothing quite like the feeling that we experience when staying in a treehouse. But not all treehouses are created equal, and in this article, we are going to show you some of the best treehouses ever created.

Better still, these treehouses are available to rent, and even better than that we are going to show you how to book them for the lowest price on the web.

Let’s start off with a real crackerjack of a property.
When we think of treehouses most of us conjure up an image of something our dad built for us when we were kids. Some of us imagine that hiding place in the trees, but on a bigger scale, with some basic amenities thrown in.

That’s not the case here. Unless your dad was Frank Lloyd Wright or someone similar.

This 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom beauty is located in Newbury, New Hampshire, and what a place it is! It even has underfloor heating so you can stay year-round and still be toasty even when there’s snow on the ground.

Treetop Hideaways: Luna Loft

Location: Flintstone, Georgia

In contrast to the first treehouse on our list, this rental is a back-to-basics option that oozes charm. It’s more of a wooden glamping choice than a palatial mansion in the trees but that’s exactly why I like it.
It looks like the perfect place to stay for hiking and wildlife lovers. I can see myself and my wife having a coffee on the deck while listening to the dawn chorus.

Here’s what the owners say about it

This rustic and refined treehouse provides a comfortable treetop retreat. Part glamping, part boutique hotel, your climate-controlled hideaway is complete with a bathroom and kitchenette up in the trees.

What Guests have to say about this treehouse

This home in the trees has 318 reviews on Airbnb, with an almost perfect rating of 4.97 out of 5 stars.

Here’s what Victoria had to say about her stay…

Luna Loft was so cozy and dreamy. Rain or shine the place was the perfect place to rest and enjoy. We had the best time, and it was fun to explore Chattanooga too. Small warning the treehouse is a tiny hike that is a little difficult to do with luggage LOL, but soooo worth it.

3. Cliff Dweller: Spend a night Suspended from the Ridgeline!

The Best Treehouses In The US

3. Cliff Dweller: Spend a night Suspended from the Ridgeline!

Location: Campton, Kentucky

This treehouse comes cliff house has to be the highest rental on our list and probably involves the most challenging engineering.
The floating staircase is a wonder, and once you have climbed it, you will be rewarded with fantastic views of the surrounding countryside.
You are guaranteed to get some Instagramable photos when you stay here. Some drone shots could be awesome.

Here’s what the owners say about the treehouse

Cliff Dweller is the first cliff-mounted rental in the Red River Gorge!  With the goal of creating a more intimate experience with the beautiful sandstone the Gorge is known for, The Canopy Crew set out to build what is now one of the most unique and adventurous dwellings you can dream of.  This innovative design blends tree and stone, architecture and engineering, and comfort with exposure.

When you arrive at the parking area, your jaw will slowly unhinge as you stare up at the massive floating staircase that takes you to the top of the mountain.  This will likely be the largest floating staircase you will ever witness.  For your future bragging rights, here is the official step count: 177 steps to get to the kitchen, 45 steps to get to the bedroom, and 11 steps to get to the roof deck!

Please note, we strongly recommend packing in backpacks vs suitcases, and bags instead of a cooler (there is a fridge inside).  Simply put, the view from your bed will not be forgotten.  You may choose to stay on the cliff your entire trip.

What Guests have to say about this treehouse in Kentucky

This vacation rental cliffhouse has 142 reviews on Airbnb, with an average rating of 4.91 out of 5 stars.

Here’s what Loandi had to say about it…

This was not just another Airbnb, this was an experience. Driving in was so magical seeing all of the cute domes and treehouses on the way to the Cliff Dweller. When I got there, I was super excited when I saw the suspension steps. It’s so different when you actually arrive in person.

The weather was perfect, so I got to experience a beautiful sunset with some wine on the top deck. Waking up to a large window of scenery.. just absolutely mesmerizing!
Ok, this was just the treehouse.. Amy was fantastic and so sweet with communication!!! I highly recommend this place if available. 🤍

Getting The Best Deal

I found this place on VRBO and copied the property number into HiChee.com.
I can now see that it’s also listed on Airbnb, and that’s $972 less expensive for this 9-night stay. I’ll book on Airbnb because that’s a huge saving of $728 per night.

It pays to check on HiChee. I wouldn’t want to pay more than I have to!

The Best Treehouses In Georgia

4. Beautifully Restored Historic Mountain Cabin-a Tree House in the Woods W/wifi

Location: Lakemont, Georgia

This lovely 100-year-old rental has a raised deck for lounging and spying on the wildlife, not exactly a treehouse, but more a house in the trees.
This rental has been renovated with a huge dollop of style. The mostly wooden interior is warm and cozy, and the furniture and fittings are 100% on point.
Everywhere you look could be on the front cover of an interior design magazine.

Here’s what the owners have to say about this historic property…

Wiley Mountain Lodge is a century-old Inn that welcomed North Georgia’s 1st visitors off the Tallulah Falls Locomotive Trains at Wiley Station. Horse and buggy brought guests to the front steps of, what was then, Mountain Laurel Inn. Guests were greeted by the Inn’s owner, Mrs Blanche Court, and the luggage boy took the leather suitcases up the winding stone steps to the broad front porch.

100 years later we have transformed Wiley Mountain Lodge into a cozy mountain retreat where you can quickly escape from the city to be surrounded by nature. The Lakemont style batten-board lodge is totally private, perfectly located, and completely outfitted with all the details.

We imagine that our pioneer ancestors would get a kick out of how fashionable Wiley looks today. When you walk through the screen doors you immediately have a sense of connection to the past that’s hard to resist! Wiley feels honest and unpretentious. It evokes a simpler time with natural warmth, organic textures, tree top views, and clean mountain air.

What Guests have to say about this treehouse in Georgia

This home among the trees has 77 reviews on Airbnb, with an average rating of 4.79 out of 5 stars.

Here’s what Susan had to say about her latest stay…

This was our third time staying at Wiley Mountain Lodge and the experience gets better every time. You can’t beat the view from any of the porches and the hot tub.

There are so many different areas that allow a big family to be together or spread out and have some quiet time. We enjoyed working on a puzzle out on the main porch during our entire stay. All our activities were just minutes away.

We plan on coming back soon.

I found this rental on VRBO, headed over to Hichee, and entered the VRBO property ID into the search box. I added my dates and selected 8 guests.

I was able to see another booking option, which is on Airbnb. However, it costs $187 more than what I need to pay on VRBO.

So, my first search (VRBO) was for the best option. An amazing treehouse for an amazing price. What a steal!

Embrace your time among the trees in the Elm Treehouse. This fabulous canopy lodging offers you a slightly different design than the rest of the Grove, with a wonderful view of the tranquil stream and an enclosed viewing area of the main treehouse.

6. Meadowlark Treehouse at Montana Treehouse Retreat

Location: Columbia Falls, Montana

I don’t know about you, but I do like a high treehouse, and the owners here have gone all out on a two/three-story property that sits among the pine trees, quite literally as two trees are growing through the house.
This rental would make for a great base for a skiing vacation.
Up the slopes during the day and up the steps when you get home.

Here’s what the owners say about the Meadowlark Treehouse

Montana Treehouse Retreat: FEATURED On The Treehouse Guys on DIY Network! Nestled on a private wooded 7 acres, this artistically designed craftsman double-decker tree house is one of a kind and has all the luxury amenities.

It was an experience of a lifetime.

Airbnb Treehouse In Alabama

7. WANDERLUST TREEHOUSE Romantic couple’s getaway

Location: Crane Hill, Alabama

Wanderlust Treehouse is a very unique treehouse

The excellently named Wanderlust Treehouse differs from the last treehouse we looked at.
That one went high, whereas this one goes wide.

Here’s what the owners say about the Wanderlust Treehouse

Our very unique treehouse is nestled into the treetops on 40 acres of forest. Great for a couples retreat, honeymoon, or spiritual reconnecting. Get away from it all and enjoy the nature trails and 2 acre lake(seasonal at times)to pass the time and be able to really unwind. Sit and enjoy your morning coffee outside on the deck as you may be able to catch a peak at the deer.

Only 20 minutes from I65. One hour from either Birmingham or Huntsville, Al. 10 minutes from nearby boat launch for Smith Lake. Plenty of room to park boat. Please check out Guidebook for all local attractions that I have put together to help you with questions and to navigate better. Lots of waterfalls, hiking, horseback riding etc. to check out that is within 30-60 minutes from property.

What Guests have to say about this treehouse

This vacation rental for adventurers has 341 reviews on Airbnb, with an average rating of 4.99 out of 5 stars. It’s a Guest favorite making it one of the most loved homes on Airbnb based on ratings, reviews, and reliability.

Here’s what Juan had to say about his stay…

The treehouse was amazing to say the least. But what made the experience worth it was Mitzi. She helped set up the perfect proposal on her property and all I did was provide a couple of items.

The treehouse itself is unbelievable but people are what make a location great and it’s safe to say that Mitzi and her family are amazing and genuine. Would go back just to visit them! As for the property, it’s breathtaking…from the showers outside (which Mitzi and her family opened early for us due to nice weather), to seeing deer on the property and the beautiful lake.

You have to see it for yourself! You won’t regret it. Thank you!

Getting The Best Deal On This Airbnb Treehouse

I found this gorgeous treehouse on Airbnb and checked the prices for a 5-night stay at the start of spring.
However, the property is not listed on either VRBO or Booking.com
Thankfully, HiChee’s Magic Search feature is there to help me out. I could see other options by clicking that button, which led me to this amazing site. Nice! Now, I can pocket a huge savings amounting to $441 by booking direct with the owner.

8. Romantic Tree House Cottage - Minutes to Mentone!

Location: Vally Head, Alabama

I picked this property, even though it isn’t strictly a treehouse, because it is so beautifully decorated and furnished. It exudes style. The spaces offer a feeling of tranquillity.

I could easily spend some time here.

Here’s what the owners say about it

Discover the hidden gems of Lookout Mountain from ‘Spencer’s Treehouse,’ a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom vacation rental cottage in Valley Head! The property offers a beautiful interior, a shared outdoor living space, and a prime location atop the Miracle Pottery Shop.

Tour the shops before you set out to explore the great outdoors in DeSoto State Park or Little River Canyon! Don’t miss out on visiting the quaint town of Mentone – or even making a day trip north to the popular Rock City.

Getting The Best Deal On This Treehouse Rental

I found this rental on VRBO, and when I checked on HiChee, it was also listed on Booking (.com) and Airbnb.
I was looking at a midweek break in October 2022
It turns out that the VRBO price is just $3 less than the price on Airbnb but $27 less than the price on Booking.
Of course, you don’t always save a fortune when comparing prices, but it’s worth bearing in mind that prices aren’t the same on different platforms, and quite often, there are substantial savings to be had.
But not in this case.

9. Treasure Hunt Tree House in Metro Atlanta

Location: Kennesaw, Georgia

I don’t know about you, but I do love a rope bridge.
It adds to the adventure and takes a treehouse to another level.
This treehouse has a fun feel with its Swiss Family Robinson theme.
There are many little details like the cleat handles, the ship’s wheel, and the toy parrot that add to the shipwrecked feel.

Here’s what the owners have to say about this rental

Welcome to Treasure Hunt Tree House, located in Kennesaw GA (about 20 min drive from Atlanta)

This is a truly unique three-floor tree house complete with many fun features as well as this cool activity: The tree house has an adventurous twist in the form of a treasure hunt for any guest who stays in this fun little bungalow.

This unique two-structure tree house connected by a rope bridge sits high among the bamboo leaves. Down below you’ll hear the sounds of a trickling stream that runs underneath the treehouse, a bridge, and a hammock. This simple intimate setting provides quiet spaces to rest and relax, with an added bonus of an escape room-style treasure hunt hidden amongst the tree houses.

What Guests have to say about this wonderful treehouse

This vacation rental treehouse has 524 reviews on Airbnb, with an average rating of 4.96 out of 5 stars. It’s obviously a guest favorite on Airbnb.

Here’s what Rachael had to say about her stay…

My 7-year-old son has been wanting to try camping, and this was the closest thing that I could handle at 8 months’ pregnant. It was a really awesome “glamping” experience! He called it “the coolest hotel in the world!” and we loved doing the treasure hunt. It was pretty cold during our February visit, but we were toasty warm inside the cozy bedroom area.

I’d love to come back during warmer months in order to comfortably relax in the unheated part (the section across the bridge) and in the hammocks over the stream. Although it’s a back yard tree house, it feels peaceful and remote and definitely gives you a childlike sense of wonder.

The bathroom was easily accessible with the well-lit path, even for a heavily pregnant woman. I appreciated that pets are allowed and we brought our dog, but next time I’ll leave her at home because it did feel a bit crowded in the bedroom area.

Tip: The Frozen Cow Creamery nearby is a must-try. It was the most unique ice cream experience I’ve ever had!

I checked the prices on HiChee for 2 guests for a week-long vacation at the end of spring.

As you can see, it’s $367 cheaper if I book through Airbnb.

I just couldn’t leave this treehouse off of the list.

Everything about this rental is beautiful in a rustic meets quality design and build. I could quite easily live here but I’ll settle for two weeks instead.
Unfortunately, it’s fully booked and I could only find 3 nights in January.

Here’s what the owners say about it

An exquisite, handcrafted home, blending Bauhaus contemporary with warm rustic elegance, in a secluded setting with a running brook and shimmering light filtered through countless Japanese Maples.

Winding gravel footpaths through a forested canopy lead to the footbridge traversing Ash Creek onto the Treehouse entry. Tucked away in the heart of Little Forest Hills, this timeless, private property is truly extraordinary.
